mail on sunday review of 'heima'

like the stunning “rivers and tides” documentary on artist andy goldsworthy, this film about electro-ambient-acoustic band sigur ros (they defy classification) and their tour of iceland (“heima” means “homeland”) is a fusion of imagery, sound and landscape. the photography is breathtaking, viscerally evoking a real feel for this amazing land of fire and ice, while the band’s mellifluous, harmonius work provides the soundtrack. utterly entrancing, wholly captivating … how does a small island punch so far about its weight culturally? björk, sugarcubes… and now sigur rós.
