247 magazine review of 'hvarf/heim'

billed as a companion piece to the band's film, heima (released the same day), this is a split collection of five practically unreleased songs from their past and six acoustic versions of old songs recorded during the making of the film. as the icelanders' modus operandi is pretty much a timeless affair. the hvarf side sounds as cohesive, ethereal and ultra-modern as anything they have blessed us with, even when they play the unexpected straight card ('hljomalind'). while the acoustic 'heim' resonates, as you'd imagine, with a sparse, poignant gravitas.
