sigur rós have been selected as one of the ten finalists of virgin megastore shortlist prize for artistic achievement in music. the prize is $10.000 as well as the honor of “a significant charitable contribution” being made in their name in honor of the victims of the september 11th attacks. sigur rós, as well as four other nominees, will perform a short set at the awards ceremony, which takes place november 19th at the knitting factory in los angeles. tickets are available at the venue’s box office (tel. +323 463 0204). more on this at billboard.com.
