sound on sound article

the hi-tech music recording magazine sound on sound has a big sigur rós feature in its latest issue, which covers just about all technological aspects of the recording of the new album and everything you could possibly want to know about sigur rós’ equipment. jónsi and engineer ken thomas go into this in full detail and several interesting statements about the new album are made, such as that the album will have an open and spacious feel to it and that it’ll be fairly reverb-drenched. ken thomas also reports that attempts are being made to edit the songs to make them shorter because they sounded “a bit boring in the studio”. after reading the article, it’s safe to say that that sigur rós definitely know what they’re doing in the studio, so we needn’t worry about that part regarding the new album. you can read the article, as well as look at some cool photos taken inside and outside the studio, here.
