Black Emperor, Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Rós e, Mogwai.

  • Iv?n V???r?

    says:

It was the second time I watched a Sigur Rós’ concert. The first was in Lisbon, February 14th, 2013. Both times splendid. The Brazilian crowd seems unfamiliar with Jónsi’s hiatuses in songs and applauded before the very end. Maybe because your Triad isn’t here often. Still want to know how to take pictures with the band, because it happened before. Both in Lisbon and São Paulo seemed there was no chance. Norður og Niður, maybe?!

  • Rob

    says:

It was the best concert/experience of my life.
    Tks for that.

  • Thais Pereira Vital

  • Cássia

    says:

  • Guilherme

    says:

Another dimension. I entered, for a while, in an unexpected realm of unknown pleasures never experienced before. Thank you. Thank you very much for this exquisite uniqueness. I think I will be unable to feel this happy again… or not; maybe if I meet you guys someday in Iceland? Maybe someday… I hope.

Muito obrigado por tudo. Minha banda favorita, a banda que mudou minha vida.

    Talk.

  • Gaspar Insfran

    says:

It was an intense, deep and beautiful experience. Your music touches a very deep part of my soul. When the show began I started crying for 15 minutes. I started listening to your music in the year 2000. So many beutiful memories came to me. Those times when all I needed was to lay on my bed close my eyes and listen sigur ros. I also used your music to inspire me for a book I am writing. The book is about how I quick drugs through meditation. I would just put my earplugs and the inspiration would come. The perfect mix of hope, joy, strength and sadness.

Thank you for making my life better.

  • Ricardo Lima

    says:

No words can describe what I felt.
Orri drums, Georg keyboard solo play on Vaka, Jónsi`s voice, you guys are from another world. A magical, eerie and beautiful and world.
Looking forward the next album. “Á” really touched me

    TAKK SIGUR RÓS!

  • Eduardo Gaudino

    says:

Beautiful concert, the quality of sound, effects and production was amazing.
Great set list and performance from the band.
I had a profund and significant experience.
    Thank you!!!

  • Flavia

    says:

When I first heard Sigur Rós I was 9 years old. When Hopíppolla found its way into my ears, I imeddiately started to feel something, kind of a bitter-sweet emotion, and I cried. Since then, Sigur Rós has made part of mylife. I started to play piano thanks to this song, all my happy moments I can hear Hopíppolla playing in the background. Sigur Rós found a way into my life and my family’s life in a more deep way that we could ever imagined. And hearing them live yesterday was one of the most powerful things I have ever experienced. It was like seeing part of my family up there, and a reminder of life, how harsh and sweet it can be.

  • Bruno

    says:

Foi o show da minha vida. Muito obrigado, Sigur Rós.

The first time Sigur Rós was in Brazil I was just a poor guy living in the north of Brazil, couln’t not be there. Last night I finally could realize a 20 year dream, it was magic. Love the songs and the images. I miss more Ágætis byrjun songs, specially Svefn G Englar, but I can forgive you all!! Great Gig!

  • Dimitri Moraes

    says:

    love you,

the music was great, you are great

i think the place espaco das americas was not suited to the projections, old projectors, bad iluminations, the stage was small

the sound quality after the first song was fenomenal

i think the ceiling was short on the stage

i was near the stage and it was hard to follow the visuals

i love you pls come back to brazil soon, or trip me to iceland hahaha

    ty for the amazing experience,

    love, Dimitri

  • Carolina

    says:

  • DILSON COLMAN CASSARO

    says:

Could be played a couple more songs. Like Olsen Olsen and Ara Batur. But it was unforgettable anyway. Please come back soon :)

  • Ana

    says:

Sigur Rós heals my soul and melts my heart. It is one my most beloved bands and the soundtrack to my life’s best moments. It is actually hard to put into words what I felt last night while watching the three of you playing less than 10 meters away from me. Yesterday’s sound, lights and setlist were amazing; and the whole experience was so utterly beautiful, dreamlike and profoundly emotional. I will remember it forever.

Jónsi, Georg and Orri, I hope you guys continue to make music for as long as it makes you happy. Takk, Sigur Rós! <3

  • Matheus Kunst

  • Eduardo

    says:

Usually one can say a music show is grandiose or powerful but this one was so…pretty! The lights made everything even more beautiful and ethereal. And the way you finished everything with POPPLAGIÐ was sublime.
Takk Sigur Rós. I hope you come back soon :)

  • Tuane

    says:

Vcs são incríveis. Obrigada pela generosidade. Que show!

  • Sarah Schimidt

    says:

A dream come true! What a completely different concert experience that was. The sound, lighting, production as whole was impeccable, but if you closed your eyes you could still have an out-of-body experience with the music. Oh the vocals! the poignant drums!
That music right there put my heat on the right beat again. Takk, Sigur Rós!

  • Renata

    says:

An amazing concert! Wonderful stage and perfect setlist.

  • Alynne Silva

    says:

I’ve been your fan for 14 years now. I was only a kid wen I first heard your voice and sounds and lyrics that go beyond words… Not even in my wildest dreams I thought about seeing a live concert. I’ve bought your tickets 8 months ago and dreamed about this show almost every day.

One of the best gigs I have ever been to. A shame you didn’t play Svefn-g-englar, tho. But that didn’t ruin anything. It was a hell of an experience. Takk very much!

It was a marvelous experience. I’m 23 and I’ve known the band for almost 8 years. It is a great thing to finally see you guys live. I hope Sigur Rós comes back soon.

This concert was probably the most amazing experience I have ever had in my entire life. I have to thank you guys for this, since it was a very important moment of life where I am having a lot of changes and to finish things with this concert it was better than I could ever expect. Jónsi’s voice and all the bass, piano, battery and guitar sounds took me to another dimension and I felt so alive and grateful for being there at that very moment. You guys are huge and are more than a sound experience, you are a visual experience – which is life changing. Thank you.

  • Vini Vieira

    says:

Attending to your concert made me feel complete! Thank you for that.

  • Nathália Caldeida

    says:

I’ve been a fan of Sigur Rós since 2011, when I was 13 and my concert dream was to see the band live. The person that first showed their song was a friend of Poland, that is also a big fan. When she had the first time seeing them live, in 2012, I was really happy for her and anxious for my time to come. They released Valtari and they went on tour, but nothing of Brazil. In 2013, they released Kveikur, imo one of the best albums they ever did and in experimental music on general, and the thing that affected the most was the fact that the artwork was done by a great brazilian woman, the artist Lygia Clark, whose work I’m really fan. And to me that was a hint that never came true, cause that year Sifur Rós didn’t went to Brazil. The years passed and I was becoming hopeless: mainly because I thought Icelandic people would never tour on South America and the fact that Sigur rós probably didnt had many fans here. And then this year I saw the notice. It was true. One of the most beautiful and intense bands I ever heard were coming to my country. One of the best musicians in the music were coming to Brazil. They never went to Brazil after 2001 and even tho I was a child being a fan since 2011 felt the same cause the wait was long, but now it was over. I’m 19 and the experience I had yesterday is incredible. I never thought a band live would make me feel so many things in so little time. And with no words. And I think that’s what matter for now: sometimes we don’t need to speak or scream clearly to get unserstood. Sometimes the music is the only solution, and the way the person sing, and the way the person play, only those details matters when the emotions are being shown. I’m so grateful and I hope you guyd wont take so long to come. Obrigada!

  • Aline

    says:

It was amazing. To me was missing a couple songs, because the band never came to Brazil so I wanted more, of course. The quality of their live performance is incredible, just the way I thought would be. Love you guys. Don’t take too long to get back to SP

  • Desirée

    says:

  • Veronica Pessoa

    says:

    Best concert ever!

  • Vivien

    says:

The beauty of your music is all I ever need to live.
    Obrigada, Thank you, Takk.

  • Everton Frederic Hermany

    says:

  • Luiz Gustavo

    says:

    (Please, come to Brazil!)
    Gratidão! Takk!

  • Alan Papazoglu

    says:

    Obrigado ! Thank you ! Takk !

  • Raphaël Ghünnter

    says:

I’ve been a fan since 2004, and your music has been with me during the ups and downs of my life. However, after last night, I can wholeheartedly say that YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE. I’m not the same person today that I was before this experience. My soul is still digesting everything that happened on that stage. It was not the setlist that I expected or even wanted, but it was probably the setlist that I needed. Takk and PLEASE come back again soon.

Hope to see you again soon!

Sigur Rós appeared in my life when I was touched by the disease and loss of someone from my family, their songs helped me pass all this and certainly showed to me that life need to be felt, to be lived.
To be in that night at their show made me feel me, something that is valious this days. I felt the person that I loved, and still love, that has passed away, next to me.
Takk Sigur Rós, for making me feel next to myself and to those I love, more than you could ever imagine.

And finally, this meeting. Something I’ll never forget. This is in my mind, in my heart, in my soul. Somehow, I still can’t get out of there. Somehow I feel connected to the people who filled the Espaço das Américas on November 29. We were thousands, all performing a magic ritual. People I never saw, but I knew they felt the same as me. I’m still in a trance. I still feel every beat exploding inside me. Pure synesthesia. The most exciting experience. Transcend. I’m still there. Thanks

You guys made my 11/29/2017 a very unique and special night. I really hope we get the chance to see you guys again someday!

Não sei ao certo dizer onde me encontrava, mas me encontrei ainda mais naquele show. Inesquecível. Eternamente grato SigurRós. Takk!

I used to be a truly fan of the band. Their music is transcendent and makes me feel alive. I’ve watch a lot of shows from the screen, including INNI album. So, when I heard that Sigur Ros was comming To São Paulo I rushed to get the ticket. The alive experience was a disappointment. The lack of energy, soul and sympathy of the band made me feel inside a movie theather watching a black and white movie. Apparently, they were playing forced and chained. The band left their best in Iceland and it became clear when Jón, occassionally, simply did not sing the lyrics, like in “festival”. That was really disrespectful. I’m sure that the people who are praising the show don’t really know Sigur Ros and your potential. We deserved a better show/experience. Sorry for the severe critics but it is from the heart.

Going to a Sigur Rós concert was one of the most different things I’d ever done. It was the first time I’d been to a concert where I didn’t understand what was being sung. The expectations were very high because I’d heard many marvelous things about the band’s shows. In fact, my favorite band once said that Sigur Rós’ show had been the best they’d ever seen and experienced. Regardless of not understanding what was being sung, emotions took ahold of my body and brought me to a place of well being and peace.
There were also more emotional parts; at one time I looked atound and saw that some people had tears rolling down their faces. That’s the beauty of music! I’d love to thank the band for creating such a memorable and beautiful set!

    Sigur Rós in São Paulo

Comments on the Show on 29 November

First, the performance was GREAT, I think – see below

As a preamble, I was introduced to Sigur Rós by A relative and have downloaded and listened to a lot of their music and videos. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I like them and their sound / music a lot. So I was eager to go to their concert here in SAMPA last night. In the meantime I unexpectedly went to visit my relative in Zurich last month and saw the Sigur Rós show there in the Samsung hall.

So when I went to see the show last night did not expect to be disappointed but I was.

I – Tickets / venue: The full price for the tickets was practically the same as paid in Zurich (taking into account exchange rates etc.) I paid the extra cost for a CAMAROTE (box seat in English) PREMIUM place in the Espaço das Américas I expected at least a real place to sit down; and premium suggested something extra to me. I should mention for those that don’t know me that I am old enough to get the preferential lines and can ride the Metro free. So standing in the area in front of the stage while fun when one is younger, is not for me. In Zurich the same price got a regular numbered theater type seat away from the stage but high enough to have a good view. In SAMPA the front of the CAMAROTE PREMIUM section was about the same distance that I sat in Zurich and standing room only.
I consider the sale of these so-called CAMAROTE PREMIUM tickets to be nothing less than dishonest. GATO POR LEBRE!
The Espaço das Américas is NOT different than many large warehouses that I have known. The stage wasn’t even elevated enough to give the folks in the area in front a chance to see.

2 – Sound: Sigur Rós music is loud and one must expect that. Unfortunately, the Espaço das Américas’ sound system did not handle Sigur Rós music well. (did the technicians go all their classes at sound school?) Lots of distortion and unplanned feedback from time to time. In Zurich the sound system was more than adequate and even more important the building acoustics were excellent; sound absorbing material on the wall and ceiling while in SAMPA all surfaces were highly reflective producing strange echoes and added distortion. Not pleasant at all.

3 – Video In SAMPA: They had tacky video screens beside the stage. At first I thought that it was a live feed of the actual show. But instead is was video of the same music (YouTube?) and out of sync with the performance. Sometimes they did not even have the same shirts. Not what I consider professional at all.

4 –Left early: Standing for the two-plus? hours of the performance plus the time before on a hard floor is well beyond my endurance limit so I left early to catch the metro before it got crowded and/or closed at midnight.

5 – Lights: They light show seemed to be equal to the prior show that I saw but it kind of got lost and diluted by the oversize venue.
6 – Long Hours waiting: Since there are no reserved places loyal fans are forced to wait for hours and hours like lamb going to slaughter for the “privilege” of fighting for a spot where the might get a glimpse of the show.
7- Menu: Crap beer and worse food….
8 – Access: The Metro, CPTM and Buses are very close. BUT the promoters insist on starting the show at the customary 21:00 (on a weekday, no less) and ending after the Metro closes and forcing everyone to take expensive taxis or pay the even more expensive parking in crowded area.

So I urge my Brazilian friends to demand treatment equal to the what the rest of the world. Most of the comments express satisfaction with the SAMPA show; just imagine what they would think if the saw it at a decent venue with a competent production!

Just my 2 cents worth JW.

I came across the band around 2003. I was 17 years old.
Their sound has followed me ever since, with every new release, even having a tangible influence in my own music. Many moments of my life are linked to this band’s music, too many to count.
I didn’t think they’d ever come to my country, so the news of this concert was a shock. I live in a different state, so it would be quite expensive and troublesome to watch it. It took some loving incentive to buy the ticket, but I did it (thank you, Karen!).
I didn’t go with any particular expectations, hoping it would sound like this or that, or that this or that song would be played. I’m glad I did so. The setlist and the sound was way beyond anything I could’ve imagined. New songs, heavy emphasis on their third LP, impeccable performance. I was in utter disbelief during the first three tracks, and once E-Bow came up, it took me over. I felt complete.
Just remembering the experience makes me emotional. I almost feel like I didn’t deserve it, as if being there was too good for a person like me. But I was there, and I would do it all over again if I could. Music is a superior force, and this band has it all in their blood, it’s in their soul, and my life is better for having experienced it.

I saw vanilla sky at the movies and from there, straight to the record shop to buy the soundtrack. A few days later, I started researching that incredible band that blew me away and cake across an audio article that presented one single track: Njosnavelin. I sobbed as I listened over and over to magic. It was so hard to find their records in Brazil and online albuns and streaming services were non-existent. In 2006 I went to London for 2 years and Takk the first Sigur Rós album I bought was played non-stop for the greater part of my time there. To this day I can’t listen to it without getting (too) emotional with how strong the sensory memories inundate my body and my heart.
I’ve been waiting for this moment since I walked out of that movie theatre 16 years ago.
I’m sorry that your audience, me included, expected a 3-hour long, greatest hits session. It has been, after all, forever that we’ve been waiting.

And even though that’s what we were hoping for, what we got in turn was so much better: A strong statement about looking ahead.

    Please come back soon.

    says:

I was presented to Sigur Rós in 2002, a friend gave me a copy of Ágætis Byrjun: a hard time to my family because we had only one cd player (a public one) and my family suffered my mania of ” OMG I can’t stop listening” to that. Since then I had followed sigur Rós on internet, joined a group of a internet social network of sigur Rós fans in Brazil with fantastic 24 members – I was number 25; and always planning: “someday, i’ll see them out there”. Year after year, my hopes of seeing them live were vanishing, since Brazil was always not a destination for their shows. During those years I’ve “spread the good word” of sigur Rós, being rejected great part of the time (thinking of it, the 15 years of waiting were necessary to purify Brazilian public…), what made my hope to diminish more and more over the years. Until my wife ( one of the converted) send me word of the show this year: immediately we bought our tickets, and the greatest waiting of my life begun (neither both of my children’s births were so torturing). But being there, seeing and specially hearing them live is (still) beyond description. Having the pleasure of being in their show – after 15 years of waiting and prayers to each pantheon – is the kind of experience that transforms life, conception of art and limits of performances on stage. Having the pleasure of staying on the same place with others 7000 people listening in silence – complete silence – to their magical show was wondrous: even watching over and over their shows on internet, the live experience is beyond description, overcoming each one of my expectations. I’ll never be able to be grateful enough to thank you guys for the privilege of being part of this. Your art, your music, is a miracle for itself, and I have the joy and privilege to have all of it in my family’s life – including seeing you live. Thank you guys.

    says:

P.S.: I need to thank you, Jonsi, for continuing the show on Brazil even after your voice being hurt. It was clear that your voice was hurt after the first half of the show, and besides having the right of stopping to sing to preserve your greatest instrument for the future of your career, you choose to stay and sing to us. Independent of the 15 years of waiting, you had the right to stop the show, but you didn’t, and we are so grateful for that. You were an idol, now you are my hero. ^_^

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who made this concert possible. Thank you guys (Jónsi, Orri and Georg), especially, for giving us such a memorable performance! It was beyond amazing… this spectacle of lights and sounds so carefully planned and executed, but yet filled with touching feelings and deep emotions!
I was quite surprised, really. I’ve know the band for more than 10 years, and I bought the tickets as soon as I heard of the concert. But I had never seen live videos. I’m not a big youtube user, so I did not know what was coming for me. And it was great, because I was mesmerized with it!
It truly makes us think that you guys are not from this planet, since your music and your performance take us somewhere else. Somewhere far from the chaos and the insignificance of our daily lives.
I do hope with all my heart that you will come back or that I’ll have the opportunity to travel to Iceland and maybe catch a local concert. Of course, it’s up to you to stay in the music business… you have given us so much already! So, thanks again! The concert was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life, I wish I could have stayed ages in that moment. Your music will be eternal and forever transcendental, even without being able to understand it, the lyrics and all…
I’ll give a shot at Icelandic, though. Thanks a lot you guys, love you very much!

Transcendental. Sublime.

What makes a person take a plane from a city far from where three guys from a distant country, singing in a language that most people cannot understand? The answer is simple: “meaningfulness”. After attending my first Sigur Ros concert, the concept of meaningfulness stands out. It is a kind of experience which words (including those that can’t be understood in the songs) cannot express what one experiences listening, and seeing, and feeling your songs. This makes me even more sure that there is beauty and sublimity in the world, there is hope, and rest assured that the humankind has instruments and voices that have the power to touch our lives, making us better people and consequently making the world a better place. Takk and see you soon somewhere in the world.

E fui tocando minha vida, e sempre ouvindo e acompanhando Sigur Rós
Comecei a melhorar!
Show acabou!
    E lá a mágica aconteceu!
    O encontro!
Foi algo sublime! Todo esforço, toda dedicação, haviam valido a pena!
Do quanto a música deles é maravilhosa e o show perfeito!
Me aceita no facebook? :P
Quero me tornar amiga de vocês, enviei algumas mensagens! Vocês me salvaram! vocês são incríveis!! Me aceitem no facebook :P
Por favor, voltem mais vezes ao Brasil!!!
    Takk Takk Takk

  • Melhor show de minha vida!
